On 25 November, A Panel Discussion on Demonetisation was hosted by the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development at Somerville College, convened by Smit Singh a student of the MSc in Contemporary India at CSASP. The speakers attempted to decipher the design of demonetisation and discuss its implications from a diverse academic and analytic perspective. The panel discussion was followed by an engaging interactive session with South Asian enthusiasts in the audience from Oxford and beyond.
The panel consisted of Prof Matthew McCartney - Director of CSASP, Prof Barbara Harriss-White - Emeritus Professor of Development Studies, Prof Nikita Sud - Director MPhil in Development Studies, Smit Singh - student candidate for MSc in Contemporary India and Dr Maan Barua (Chair) British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Geography and Environment.
